Wouldn’t it be fantastic if everyone who had a great idea that they really loved created a flexible, do-able plan and then went for it – un-self-consciously, unapologetically and with the mindset of simply making the idea become as amazing as it can be? This is what my podcast is all about. Helping you, your team and your business create your own legacies that you didn’t even imagine were possible through innovation, co-creation and entrepreneurial thinking. I’m here to cheer you on and walk alongside you, an independent thinker, who wants to pioneer, create more and regurgitate less, and blast through gloss and BS to get into the substance of what really matters and really works. Let’s trust in ourselves and listen to our own intuition. We’ll consult others, learn, listen to views, then take our stand and unapologetically do us. Bring on the ideas...

Visible Thinking with Claire Bown
Monday Nov 16, 2020
Monday Nov 16, 2020
I loved learning more about visible thinking, thinking routines and virtual facilitation in this episode with my special guest, Claire Bown founder at Thinking Museum.
Claire is based in Amsterdam and works internationally. She has always been fascinated by developing methods that help people to engage with art and museums creatively and in a thought-provoking, inquiry-led way.
Claire does a great job helping museum teams to ask great questions, to achieve discussion-based programmes around art and to make visits much more interactive using a simple structure. She helps museum and art gallery teams to share their deep knowledge and enthusiasm in an interesting way that goes beyond sharing facts.
Visible thinking enriches learning and thought. Its central idea is making thinking visible.
Thinking routines are short, easy-to-learn practices and steps that can be used regularly in different ways. For example, "see, think, wonder" provides a structure for being curious about and questioning an object or theme. The approach teaches users to ask better questions.
Thinking routines can also be combined and each has a different focus.
We discussed the relevance of this to innovation sessions and how they will work well in a number of settings such as customer experience, brand development, business growth and more.
We also explore how museums and galleries have been innovating through the covid-19 lockdowns and social distancing measures and building their virtual facilitation and digital skills.
Claire shares her top tips for engaging, interactive virtual facilitation.
Claire runs a membership, and holds great training sessions on visible thinking and thinking routines.
You can find Claire by searching Thinking Museum on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. On Linkedin search for Claire Bown.

The Innovation Story of VWall -The Virtual Whiteboard Ahead of Its Time
Friday Sep 04, 2020
Friday Sep 04, 2020
Join me and innovators Mark Whittaker from Velresco and Chris Wilson from Adamo to hear the story of how Mark created a new virtual whiteboard for online meetings and workshops called VWall back in 2010, well ahead of the curve, and how VWall has developed to being an invaluable tool for many facilitators here and now.
Mark and Chris share how VWall is a great facilitation tool, and how easy it is to use with platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and others to optimise delegate engagement and participation.
VWall allows we facilitators to intuitively capture and instantly analyse ideas from our workshop participants. Personally, I really enjoy using it in sessions for sticky note activities, mind mapping, polling and much more.
I found it inspiring to listen to Mark and Chris sharing the innovation journey of VWall, from an idea borne out of frustration and opportunity to becoming a super-useful, easy-to-use and successful commercial facilitation product.
If you'd like to know more about VWall and have a demo with Chris, and / or sign up for a free trial, just reach out to him on Linked in here.
Thank you Chris and Mark for a really interesting conversation!
